One of my favorite parts about this summer was the many weddings we attended. We went to the wedding of two of my friends {one high school, one college}, Zan’s cousin, and then my cousin, totaling four, which seemed like a lot to us, but turns out to be pretty low compared to other people I’ve met along the way. One friend of mine went to 12 weddings one year. CAN YOU IMAGINE! How does one even have that many friends?!

All of our weddings were on the East Coast, and all were in driving distance— the farthest being Maryland, which was definitely a hike, but also pretty lucky that we didn’t have to fly anywhere. I didn’t love the constant driving, as driving is my nemesis, but I did love the celebrating. And also, of course, the dressing up. OH, YES. The dressing up!

The best part of this year’s bout of weddings was that I wasn’t in a single one. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved my experiences as a bridesmaid, but there is just something to say for not having to spend all that money {showers! bachelorettes!} and especially for the freedom of wearing your own dress. This year I recycled a couple of my own dresses from years past, and the one above is my most favorite of all.

Also, doesn’t Zan look handsome?
I found that tie at the thrift store in Greenwich– for $6!
AMAZING.

  1. You both look so good! Love your dress and that cute bag! We went to a ton of weddings this summer, too. So fun.

  2. as much as i looove weddings, we happily had a wedding-free summer, hooray!

  3. You look beautiful! Love these! The two of you are just so adorable.

  4. ahh yes. wedding season and being a bridesmaid. our highest was six in one year. it was a LOT. and i was in lie half of them – yes, the expenses. oh my, the expenses. and the dress really is the worst of all. but then again…of course…standing next to a bestie on her wedding day is quite a privilege. but after a bit, sitting in the audience and taking it all in is quite a nice breather. lastly – you guys look great! (of course)

  5. Weddings are so joyous + fun and yes! dressing up in your own dress and shoes is SO nice! I loved the times I could stand by my girls and be their ‘maid, but now I love just being a guest at weddings.

Also, Anna you are gorgeous! And that dress is so fun, and suits you so well!

  6. Yes! Not being in a wedding is fantastic. You can spend a little more on the couple. I too wore a dress to a wedding that I have worn to work and on special occasions!

  7. That dress is super flattering! ROCKIN’ IT!

  8. cute as a button.

  9. You are so cute! Love those pics of you and Zan.

I hear you on not being a bridesmaid – it really is so much fun to just attend a wedding. You really get to enjoy it! We have been to 8 weddings in 2013… and that feels like way too many! They are so much fun but it gets expensive and a little crazy with all of the weekends that get taken up. I’m looking forward to the upcoming months being a little bit slower!

  10. you guys look great.

  11. oh that dress. is so beautiful! and i love weddings so much. i’m jealous ;)
