goal 8: cook more dinners

Another failed goal! Oy.

It’s not that I didn’t cook ANY dinners, it’s just that I didn’t cook any more than I used to. Which, sadly, isn’t a whole lot.

The thing about this goal is that I WANTED to cook more dinners, I really really did, and still! I do! except for I just don’t think my heart is in it past my go-to chicken piccata and occasional turkey tacos. Plus, I’m the laziest in the food department.

Also, Zan is an AMAZING cook. Honestly, the best. And so my lazy heart just really wants a delicious meal from my one and only. Am I wrong for wanting this? Maybe, hopefully not, but still. I really need to try a little harder.

Below are some really delicious meals that I HOPE to cook in 2014.

IF WE’RE LUCKY.

Creamy Potato Soup // Rosemary Potatoes Recipe

Crispy Quinoa Sweet Potato Tacos // Eggplant, Carmalized Onion and Tomato Pasta

dinners 4

  1. Okay, I want a second dinner now :)

  2. Girl you are so lucky to have a man that cooks! I do love to cook, but every now and then it would be nice to have someone whip up dinner for me. Not that he doesn’t want to, but I’m seriously terrified watching him slice an onion so it’s better this way. Sending you lots of good kitchen vibes. I love cooking and I love feeding people. Seriously, chasing that praise gets addicting!

  3. Mmmm…these look delicious. I am now in the process of following all of these people. I must know their secrets!

My roommate and I have been trying to cook more, too. It’s just much cheaper that way. The other week we made shrimp fettuccini alfredo. Not only was it delectable, but it fed both of us for about three or four days and we didn’t even spend $10 on the ingredients. Divine. :)

  4. These are the prettiest food pictures I’ve ever seen!

I am definitely not cooking as much as I once did. Between having a needy baby & being back in a city that actually has take out options – I’ve gotten really lazy. Plus, Steve has all this grad school energy he doesn’t know what to do with so he cooks several times a week & makes more of an effort than I ever do.

Let us both make more food in the coming year.

  5. oh man those look good. i’m all about your cooking more but if your boo is that good…i won’t fault you for not getting into the kitchen as much :)

  6. Invite me over if you’re making these :)

  7. I’ve found the best way to cook more dinners is always to people over more often! You can’t just serve takeout- it forces you to try and impress :) Plus a double win that you get to spend more time with friends!

  8. You’re lucky Zan is such a great cook! Tommy is whipping up a pastrami and bacon sandwich right now! I actually got pretty adventurous in the kitchen this year and meal planning and pinterest make all the difference.
