It’s been pretty good so far, settling into this new year. I had one day of school, and then a snow day, so you can’t really beat that.
I’m halfway through a new book. I stayed up until almost 3 in the morning last night turning the pages quicker than lightning. Zan and I went on a de-cluttering spree on January 1st. That felt amazing. I went to the yarn shop because I’m going to use my knit and purl skills to make a cowl scarf this winter. We bought an alarm clock– an actual old school alarm clock– and I haven’t slept with my phone in the room once in 2014.
Good things, all very very good things.
I found this 52 week list project on Pinterest and I’m going to try it out for awhile. I like lists. I can do lists.
Here’s my week one.
This has helped me choose my “word” for 2014 as well, since that’s what I’ve decided to do this year. I’ve never chosen a word before but this year is going to be THE year. I liked my resolution list last year, but ultimately felt clogged down by it in the end. I don’t like feeling clogged down– I like freedom, wiggle room, a space to dance– and so this year I’m simply going to pick a word to encompass that. I will share soon!
What’s your word? What words touch your soul?
I just love the 52 lists project idea – thank you for turning me onto it, think I will give it a try. I feel much the same about starting off 2014. This past year was incredibly hectic and I am looking forward to a more settled, organised year ahead – wiggle room is indeed a wonderful thing. Wishing you a great year – Jess
Thanks, Jess! Yes, I want a more relaxed, go-with-the-flow year too. And I hope you do the project! Lists are fun. :)
What a beautiful idea. I love how the simplest of things can be the most beautiful and moving.
You’re so right. I’m excited to see where this takes me. Maybe you’ll do it too?
I had the exact week with school last week, and it’s looking like we’ll have another snow day this week. Thanks for posting about these lists; I think I’m going to try it. I love lists!! It’s a problem.
I hope you do try it! And I’m jealous about your looming snow day. They’re the best!
I love this idea! I think I might have to try it myself :)
Yes! DO!
I’ve heard credit for the 52 Lists project be given to http://www.moorea-seal.com/ but I’m not sure if she’s the one who really started it. Love the idea though!
In her original 52 List post {from 2013} she says used some prompts from a book List Yourself {http://www.amazon.com/List-Your-Self-Listmaking-Self-Discovery/dp/0836221796?tag=viglink126303-20}… but some I think she may have come up with on her own. No doubt she got the idea from somewhere, but I love it all the same!
That cowl is SO squishy and lovely. You’re going to be so happy with it! Looking forward to hearing more about your word :) xo
It is lovely! I hope I can do it!
I love this list idea. I might jump on board! I did a word last year, but I lost stamina about halfway through. Maybe I should try again this year. Glad to hear you had a wonderful holiday! xo, K
I think my word is going to be one I put out there, and come back to every now and again, but I’m not going to stress over it at all. Mostly just something to keep in mind. :)
I hope your holiday was wonderful, too!
This sounds really nice! I like making lists too, but sometimes laziness wins. Maybe that’s good challenge for me in 2014- make lists! ;)
Oh, lazy. I know it well! ;)
I want to do this Anna!! Love it. And I very much admire that you’ve slept without a phone in your room for all of 2014 so far! Inspired :)
Please do Casey!! I would love to see your lists! XO!
oh i LOVE THIS. SO MUCH. <3 {and your handwriting.}
Thanks, Stephanie! And the handwriting I’m working on!
I, too, am in looove with this project! I love lists and as a writer, I also love words so this one is incredibly intriguing. I also love your handwriting (I still am in love with your fonts, by the way!) and the words you chose. I’m thinking family, laughter, and passion will all end up on my list, too. :)
It’s interesting that you blog about this, because since the last week of December I’ve been thinking of words for the year, and even anti-words, if that makes sense. So, my big word for the year has been “curate.” I’m starting a new blog, so I want to curate and create content that feels wholly representative of who I am. I’ve been guilty in the past of trying to use what works for others rather than figuring out what works for me, but in doing that I finally did figure out what works best for me, so I guess it’s all trial and error. I’m hoping to launch my blog next week and get that thang rolling. :) My anti-word, so to speak, is apathy. I’m going to try to avert that feeling as much as possible, even though, now that I’m battling against it, I’ve been aware of it more than ever since the new year. I will write about both to explain in more detail what these words mean to me once I get my blog up. So excited about internet changes!
My word for the year is “do”. No matter what…I can decide exactly what to “do” as the year goes along. I’m sure it will change and grow and build. Hoping this is a good game plan. :) Love the 52 week idea.
