my mini-blogging vacation: a recap

Sorry, all. Did you wonder where I went? Whew! That was one long and crazy week and I am glad to say sayonara to it.

Besides running around school trying to get a million things done, I was doing a little bit of this and a little bit of that this week.

Babysitting my favorite kiddos:

So adorable, I love them!

I had a deeeeelicious dinner at Sorellina

The food is amazing, especially the truffle fries! This has to be one of my most favorite places to eat. I love the atmosphere, trendy and cozy and the best food around town.

Lately I have been addicted to Grey’s Anatomy:

I’ve been taking out the series from the library and I just love it. I don’t really have a show right now. I honestly haven’t had one since LOST and so, I’ve decided that I am making this my show. It’s interesting, it’s exciting, and it also makes me cry (which weirdly, I like in a show. I always love a good cry).

And last night Zanner and I drove up to Maine. He’s working up here this weekend and I decided to go up with him for a little weekend getaway. We stopped in at the Front Room last night in Portland to have dinner with Hannah and Todd! So fun! Wish we lived in Maine!

That’s a little recap of what I’ve been up to this week. Will be back with more posts soon!

Toodleoo for now, readers! XO!

more stripes for the stripe lover

I just simply can’t get enough of these! By the time summer rolls around I’ll be rolling in stripes. The warm weather this weekend made me pleased, and I feel like spring is just around the corner. Even if it isn’t, I am heading to Florida in just a few short weeks and I will be packing my stripes for sure.

Have you found any other stripes you love for summer? If so, please share. A girl can never have too many stripes.*

From top to bottom:

1. Olivet 2. Garnet Hill 3. St. James 4. J.Jill 5. Lands End Canvas 6. J.Crew

*This is a new addendum to my previous philosophy that a girl can never have too many cardigans. My love for cardigans still holds true (for eva and eva) and I now also believe that a girl (or boy) can never own too many shirts with stripes. AMEN.

house beauty…

I’ve been having quite the lazy late afternoon. It feels good to just sit around while my laundry is going, watching t.v. with my feet up. Today I found Something’s Gotta Give on E! I LOVE this movie. Love Diane Keaton. Love Jack Nicholson. Love it all.

I also LOVE, as in L.O.V.E., the house where most of the movie takes place. It’s gorgeous!!

Half the fun of watching this movie is checking out the house and the Hamptons! Dream!

books we love…

In my first grade classroom we can’t get enough of these books…!

They are super hilarious and are helping even my most resistant readers become excited about reading. I’ve recently taken these books and created reader’s theatre scripts that we will perform in our own class, and hopefully for some of the other classes in the school as well.

The level of reading is fairly simple, but the repeated reading helps students gain fluency and expression, which are important aspects of helping students comprehend text. These books are helping everyone become better readers, the kids are having a blast, and I am cracking up at the hilarity of it all.

Yay, Mo Willems! We love your work!!
