happy halloween!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Yesterday afternoon I spent the day strolling Beacon Hill. I think this is one of the things I like to do most in Boston. I love walking on the cobblestone streets in Louisburg Square, stopping into shops on Charles Street, and exploring the old brownstones on the hill. Halloween is an especially fun time to visit this historic area because many houses are decorated with pumpkins and cobwebs to the nines.

And if you’re up for it, take the Boston By Foot Halloween tour of Beacon Hill at 5:30 PM tonight. It’s sure to be a spoooooky time.

Linking up today!

snow daaaayyyy.

Sunday morning I woke up to this:

It was pretty and all, but snow and I don’t get along all that well. I’m a fair weather fan. You know, Thanksgiving and Christmas are awesome occasions for snow, and I embrace it, but other than that snow falls into the same category for me as Sunday night. Bleh.

There is one other time that I love snow, and more specifically, snow storms. And that is when I get to have the day off from school. The town where I work lost power and were unable to restore it in time for school today. Gleeeee! SNOW DAY are two of the most beloved words that a teacher can hear. And although I have to admit that October 31st is a little early for a snow day, and that this makes me a little nervous for the rest of the winter (we had 5 snow days last year and had to go a whole extra week at school to make up for it), i’ll take it! Any reason to get a day off is a good enough reason to put a smile on this girl’s face.

Right now I’m sitting on the couch in my stretch pants, watching DVRed ELLENs and drinking a cup of fog lifter coffee. It’s quite glorious, I’m not going to lie.

I’ve also got a incredibly long list of things that I want to do on this day off. Here’s some ideas that are reeling in my head:

finish my curtains

make something delish for dinner in my le creuset

write some blog posts

go to Homegoods

do all my laundry

watch Something Borrowed

finish Catching Fire

hang up some artwork in the apartment

look for a rug for the bedroom

take a nap

It’s doubtful I’ll get to them all (or even half, really), especially since the idea of getting off the couch does not seem like a likely one at the moment, but we’ll see what happens. You never know, sometimes I surprise myself.

Happy Monday, everyone! A very happy Monday indeed.

goodbye, claire!

I feel like a proper farewell is in order…

To my friend Claire:

Who started off as a blogging friend and became a real life friend in the end.

It’s been through Claire, that I’ve realized what a wonderful community blogging can provide. It’s amazing to me that you can find people in this internet universe that you can connect with on such a real level. I love how we’re different, but also so much alike. I love how we met for lunch and took walks through the summer sun and the fall drizzle. I love how she so evidently loves her family more than anything, how she’s so easy to talk to, and most of all, how she is not afraid to be herself. I’m thankful for the first time we met in the Boston Common and how I instantly knew this girl would be my friend.

Tomorrow she’s moving across the country, and I’m really sad to see her go. I wish her luck and strength and happiness. Sad as I may be to say goodbye, I’m happy for the fact that we can still be so connected through our blogs each and every day. I can’t wait to read about her new adventures in San Francisco, and hopefully our paths will cross again someday!

Safe travels to you and your family, Claire!! ♥♥

for my sister. ♥

Happy Birthday to my amazing sister!

I love you more than words. ♥
