to remember, on the first day of fall.

I made a statement to a friend this summer, arguing that summer was by far the best season of all, to which he quickly argued back, “NO WAY, It is fall!”. We went on for awhile {Zan included and totally on my SUMMER FORVER side!} listing all the reasons why each of our beloved seasons was the greatest season and in the end I was pretty much convinced of one thing and one thing only: Summer is still and always will be NUMBER ONE. Fall has always been my least favorite season {I love LOVE this post {thanks for sharing with me, Annie!}–which so perfectly takes all the thoughts I’ve ever had straight out of my mind}, and in the middle of summer, well, there was just no changing my mind about it, but this morning a quick note (sent by the forementioned friend) graced our inboxes before we could get in another word…

// The air is cool in the evening and great for sleeping, with a bit of a chill in the morning that wakes you, yet its warm inside near a sunny window or in the car.  The leaves are beginning to turn into a beautiful array of oranges, yellows, and reds.  The air smells crisp and at night there is the scent of wood stoves churning out aromatic and warming heat.  It’s still warm enough for ice coffee, but late enough in the year to enjoy it with the flavorings of pumpkins.  Embrace it. //

HA. I couldn’t read it and not smile. And just like that— and because I’ve always been the “onward and upward!” type— Autumn is looking mighty bright.

:)

  1. I’m with you, #eternalsummer all the way, but I will admit, the crisp air has felt nice (especially for running). But your friend’s note is pretty great :)

  2. I think that’s how I feel about fall too. I actually really to like the season, in itself, but just because it means the end of summer I get a little sad. And the shortened days. That makes me sad too. Here’s to choosing to embrace fall!

  3. i love this because, summer forever. i happily admit i love fall – though it does for reasons that are very similar to many people make me be a little angsty, surgery my life, wonder if it’s time for change, etc. but the weather, the food, the football, the memories, the foliage, yes, i truly love it. and i’ve been loving the weather here in nyc, though after our perfect summer it didn’t necessarily need to change. anyways – summer forever, but fall i love you too (and i find it’s making me nostalgic about our wedding now, so i suppose it’s special to me now as well).

  4. yep, fall is my favorite. i don’t think ‘christmas’ is a season, so fall takes the cake for me. summer and spring seem to blur together all too often, but fall… fall is it’s own little world and i love it.

  5. Well, fall is my favorite for many reasons, but I can understand that maybe someone from the North carries a deeper attachment to summer. :) I grew up in Texas and I couldn’t wait to live somewhere that has a season other than spring and summer. Perhaps one day you can try living in Texas or North Carolina or some other southern state. It sounds right up your summer lovin’ alley!
