Steppin’ Out

This week’s Steppin’ Out was extra special because it was my birthday! Plus, I was in a different state and everything. Talk about steppin’ OUT. Out of Boston, for sure. My friends and I spent the afternoon cruising around Charlotte, NC (the city Bailey now calls home) touring the sights and remembering the old days back in Syracuse. It was a great day filled with a little bits of something and little bits of nothing at all (plus a whole lot of laughs), which are the best kind of days in my opinions.

I had a little fun in front of B’s long mirror before we headed out for the day (I need one of these!)…

For lunch we went to Zoe’s which had super delicious fare for the health conscious, then we took a little trip to West Elm to check out the home decor inspiration for my new apartment. I ended up picking out some curtains, and was super excited about them, only to discover I didn’t really like the colors in my living room when I got home. BUMMER. I did get some gorgeous hand painted pillow cases for my couches, though, which I am really in love with, and I think they helped me decide what to do as far as window treatments go (more on that later!).

For dinner we went to a tasty mexican restaurant, Cantina 1511 right near Bailey’s house in Charlotte. We had margaritas and enough food to fill us for days. Rebecca actually said she woke up full, which might have been partly from dinner, and MOSTLY from the delicious cupcakes we had from SAS Cupcakes. OH yes.

All in all a GREAT day and a wonderful weekend. I was so sad to say goodbye. Home is wherever I’m with you… Thanks for an awesome birthday, ladies. It was perfect!

What a perfect day! Congratulations to the wonderful couple. Thanks for having us celebrate with you! ♥♥

Jimmy’s, Brookline

My super terrific friend Erin and I went out to dinner last night.

It was wonderful. One, because we got to catch up and rekindle our love for each other and two, because we got to try a fun new restaurant steps away from my apartment.

What’s with me and going out to dinner these days? It must be because I’m moving soon. Gotta soak up Brookline while I can.

Anyways, I totally recommend this place. The pizza was delish and they have a classic (albeit limited) selection draft beer. They also have completely open windows, so open that you feel like you’re outside. Which was awesome tonight considering it was pouring rain. POURING. (Really though, the weather is whack this week!)

So if you live in Brookline, or even if you don’t, Jimmy’s is great for a dinner date.

They have large TVs.

And huge open windows (all glass, garage-style for the winter months).

Great atmosphere.

Casual menu.

And it’s yummy.

Plus, if you have company like mine, you’re a shoo-in to have a fun time.

thoughts on reconnecting

Last night I had dinner with an old friend. It felt so nice to reconnect and talk about both new times and old. We talked about the past and the present and the future. We drank cocktails and beer and had small plates and pizza. There were congratulations and retellings and catch-ups. There were laughs and smiles and good vibes.

This, I thought, is staying in touch.

This, I thought, is fun.
