bring on the rain…

There is something about this picture that makes me feel a little bit better about all the rain. I feel like I could be happy in this room on a rainy day curled up under the covers with a good book. I would prop up lots of cozy pillows, have a mug of hot hazelnut coffee on my vintage bedside table, and doze off to sleep in the middle of a chapter.

This is love.

so much to do, so little time…

There is really no excuse for my absence except for the fact that this time of year seems to be a really busy one in the life of a school teacher. The end of the year is fast approaching and I feel like my head is spinning with all kinds of emotions.

1. I’m totally ready for summer.
2. I LOVE love love my class and will miss them dearly.
3. My kids are going crazy with spring fever.
4. There is so much I want to do before the end of the year and so little time to do it.

What’s a lady to do?

Get ‘er done.

And so, that’s what I’ve been up to and that why I’ve gone missing from this dear blog of mine.

My sincerest apologies.

I still love you, blog. Believe me, I do.

37 days.

My apologies for being MIA this week. I’d been so good about posting too! This week has been hard for me getting back into the swing of work. Last week’s vacation was such a dream I think I may have spoiled myself a little too much with all that sleeping in and doing nothing. Most nights this week I’ve been too tired after work to do anything but fall asleep quicker than you can say “I can’t wait til summer”.

I adore my first graders, but they’re all ready for summer too, I think.

There is so much to do before the year is up it makes my head spin. I can’t believe there’s only 6 weeks left! My how it’s all flown by. The changes I’ve seen over the course of this year are amazing. They can read, they can write, their more engaged and excited about learning than ever. YAY! I’ve done the best job I can do and I’m proud of those little cuties.

Here’s to keeping the momentum going until the end….

37 more days!!

marathon monday

There is just something about Marathon Monday.

It’s hands down one of my favorite days in Boston. Mostly because it’s spring and the trees are blooming and I am on April Vacation, but also because it is such a day of inspiration. Inspiration so great that I have tears in my eyes for a better part of the day.

26.2 miles.

Can you believe it?

I can hardly. For me, it seems impossible. But for these runners, these amazing runners, who have spent the past several months training for this day, 26.2 miles is a triumph. And one that I will gladly cheer for until my voice is gone and my palms hurt from all the clapping.

I cheered today and clapped today because I felt jubilation. Pride for these runners that I don’t even know. They have accomplished a feat so great that millions come to watch and cheer, to show support for these tremendous athletes as they run the course and cross the line in front of the Boston Public Library.

I was lucky enough to get a spot just seconds from the finish line today. The sun was shining and the crowds were yelling. It was an incredible day and one that will stay in my memory. What a day to be in Boston.

Congrats, runners!! You are amazing!
