Just for fun, I thought I’d do a “favorite things” post. It’s awfully cold out today (and will be ever colder tomorrow), so I am spending the morning under a cozy blanket watching dvr’ed episodes of Grey’s Anatomy. A very perfect Saturday morning in my humble opinion.

Have a nice weekend!!

an afternoon in the garden…

Today, both Meg and I had the day off of work (yay MLK Jr.!) so we decided to meet up with Andrea for a walk in the Boston Public Garden and a little shopping on Newbury Street.

I of course took my camera to see if I could get any good shots! The air might have been freezing (18 degrees!), but the sun was shining bright and the sky was the most perfect shade of blue.

We ate a late lunch at Piattini Gelateria and Cafe, a new addition to the classic “small plates” Piattini, which Caroline and I loved to frequent when we lived in Back Bay right after college (remember, friend?!). The cafe has small paninis, salads, soups, and of course, gelato. A nice place to sit and chat on a cold afternoon!

I’ll leave here with one of my favorite MLK Jr. quotes:

‎”I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

Hope you had a nice MLK day!

I ♥ Vermont

What a terrific weekend in Vermont!

I love Vermont. It’s such a special place filled with red barns, covered bridges, ben and jerry’s ice cream, a favorite college friend, and really fun skiing!!

Zan and I drove up after work on Friday and headed straight to Burlington, where we spent the night with Julie, a roommate from my beloved “Brickhouse” in college. Jules had homemade beef stew waiting for us when we arrived. It tasted just perfect after our long drive and we spent the evening catching up on what’s new and reminiscing about the old.

Saturday it was up and at ’em as we headed up to Sugarbush for a day of skiing.

Perfect weather and lots and lots of snow!

The snow was amazing, by our standards, and the many “locals” that we talked to on the lifts while we headed up to the top of the mountain.

Here are some neat pictures I took from my phone’s retro camera app… love the vintage look!

On Saturday night we stayed at an adorable B&B, The Inn at Lareau Farm, just a few miles from the mountain. The house was so cozy, with ample snacks and beverages meant just for the guests, extremely comfortable beds, and perfectly hot and wonderful showers (which felt particularly terrific after a long day of skiing). The breakfast was an omelette of our choosing (MMm!), and  the Inn prides itself on being a working farm, using only organic produce and sustainably raised meats.

Highly recommended if you’re ever looking for a place to stay over a skiing weekend! We couldn’t have been happier! How was your weekend? Hope it was a good one!

snow, snow and more snow

Today was quite the winter wonderland here in Boston.

I did very little on my planned out snow day list, except shovel my car.

Ellen wasn’t on due to storm coverage and the food project didn’t get done due to a power outage (11 am – 5 pm!). I did manage to read some, but mostly I was taking pictures of all the white!!

The power outage was a bit of a bummer at first, until LJ had the fabulous idea to make mimosas and play Catch Phrase. Ended up being a really fun afternoon!

Cheers for snow days!
