"make life sweeter…eat dessert first!"

Went to Flour in the South End tonight for a quick dinner. Their BLT is insane. Best I’ve ever had. I never wanted it to end. I treated myself to something sweet to end off the meal: a chocolate hazelnut cookie. WOW.

Check this place out if your ever around the South End. It’s amazing!

Birthday fun at TORO.

Last night we went out to dinner to celebrate my 26th birthday! Zan, Meg, Josh and I tried out Toro on Washington Street in the South End. The mom I am babysitting for knows all the hot spots for restaurants and such so I had her write down a list of good places. I am so glad I picked Toro because it was amazingly delicious!
It was super crowded too, which to me is always a good sign. We had to wait about 45 minutes for our table but were able to get 4 seats at the bar and have some fun cocktails. I got a delicious La Granada (Christiania vodka, pomegranate, housemade grenadine, splash rosé cava)… it was excellent. Yummy, yummy. The dinner was tapas so we got to try out tons of delicious little mini plates. Everything was great- definitely Top Chef quality! We got a bunch of different plates between the 4 of us but I think my favorites were the Atun Crudo (Yellowfin tuna with citrus and soy), the Patatas Bravas (Fried potatoes with alioli and spicy tomato sauce), and the Hamburguesas de Kobe (Mini burgers with smoked tomato, alioli and pickled red onion)– DEVINE! Finished off the night with some fried dough sticks with smoked chocolate on the side, topped with a birthday candle of course. It was an interesting dessert! I will be going back to this restaurant for sure. It gets 5 stars in my book!

SWEET.

In honor of my birthday tomorrow (!!) I treated myself to some cupcakes from this adorable little cupcake store in Harvard Square, Sweet , on my way home from class tonight. I bought 3 cupcakes: 1 for Meg and 2 for me. It is my birthday tomorrow after all. Everyone knows you need to eat a delicious vanilla raspberry cupcake on the morning of your birthday. OBViously. We ate the 2 chocolate ones tonight and boy were they scrumptious. SWEET!

Pillsbury Crescent Rolls… YUM-MMY.

How delicious are these crescent rolls? They are absurdly delicious. If you have never tried these rolls, made by the dough boy himself, then you need to run out to the store right now and buy some. (Note: Original flavor is the ONLY way to go. Butter flake and reduced fat are simply horrid so do not even try them.) The crescent rolls are best enjoyed when right out of the oven (about 350 degrees for 9 minutes, I think)… I usually undercook them ever so slightly because #1) you do NOT want them burned (just a perfect golden color) and #2) you do not want them to be too flaky because that would TOTALLY defeat the purpose of the tag line: “Flaky on the outside, soft on the inside!”. And that is the best part of these rolls, the soft, buttery taste that enters your mouth when you take a bite. YUMMMM.

And how cute is the little dough boy? Sightly creepy, but still, something about hearing him laugh just makes me want to tickle his tummy just like that lady in the commercial.
