As many of you know, I’m a big supporter of adding typography to posts/photos, as evidenced here and here {and here and here and here}. I could go on, but you get the idea. For me, it’s a fun way to play around with graphic design + adding a touch of text makes it a little more personal and unique. Up until recently, most of the text on my photos have been fonts I have downloaded {for free} from here and there around the internets. Then when I got my Bamboo Tablet, I started to experiment with writing on my pictures in my own handwriting using a stylus pen.
Yesterday I had the best time playing around with a new app I downloaded called iFontMaker, which basically helps you turn your own handwriting into a font. It’s $6.99 for any of you iPad owners {iPad only, unfortunately} and is basically THE MOST FUN ever. Worth the money, in my opinion, for sure.
It’s super easy to use, too– you only need your finger and your iPad and you’re good to go. You can make as many fonts as you want, download them for just yourself, or share them with the world. I made the four above in under a half hour yesterday, and BECAUSE I LOVE YOU (!) I’ve made them available for free download. All you need to do it click on the links above.
SO! Download away!
ENJOY + HAPPY MONDAY!
SO cool. Definitely downloading this tonight!
Yes! Do it! So much fun.
as if i needed one more reason to get a tablet, this is so cool!
Next time we hang out I’ll bring my iPad with me and you can make your own!!! How’s that sound?!
It seriously takes 5 minutes!
I have this app!! But how do you make it downloadable on your computer?
On the app there’s an arrow button in the top right corner, select “email font”, and email it to yourself. Then, in the email there is a link and a code to open it up– do that and then you can download it. Also, you can make it “public” too, so that others can download it if you give them the link!
Let me know if you need more help with it and I can email you screen shots to show you!
So I just checked and it says “build font via 2ttf.com”… Click that and you’ll be able to email it to yourself after it’s created.
YOU’RE THE COOLEST! And your handwriting is bomb dot com.
Thanks, Alex!!
Wow, that is awesome! Is that a free app? I may need to download it.
It costs $6.99– but it’s worth it!
Oh, I love this! I’m in this phase in which I’m crazy about calligraphy and the likes. Now I’ll have to look for this app! ;)
I would LOVE to learn calligraphy. The prettiest.
I’m thinking about learning calligraphy too. I love it! I found a workshop here in Boston that looks interesting and I’m thinking about taking it soon.
LOVE THIS!! I don’t have an iPad, so I am just going to take you up on those free downloads. Your handwriting is much cuter than mine is anyway. Thanks so much!
Definitely! I hope you use them!
Thanks, Melissa!
these are so cool! you always teach me the best things. xox
This might be a sign that I spend too much time on the Internet. OH WELL, if it means I’m giving out the goods then I’m down with that.
;)
If I had an iPad, I would be ON this! I love, love, love this idea! Although, I’m sort of scared to imagine where technology is going to take us in the next 10 years…
Seriously. Blows my mind to think about the difference between now and 10 years ago. I can’t imagine where it’ll go from here.
These are great! downloaded & can’t wait to use them – thanks for sharing!
I think the top one is good for teaching! Very teacher-y, don’t you think?
This is the best! The coolest! I’m downloading now.
I had a feeling you would love it! ;)
love this, thank you!

You are welcome!
Oh my gosh I so love this! thanks for sharing your adorable fonts, Anna!
You are so creative and I love it. I love it all!
Thanks, Laura! Glad!!
Every time I visit your blog you make me wish I knew how to do all these cool graphics for myself! I’m going to have to consider the benefits of going back to school for graphic design now… :)
I never went to school for it at all… just a bunch of playing around/experimenting. You can do this kind of stuff, too! ;)
It really is too bad my own handwriting is sloppy & doctor-illegible. And I’m not even a doctor. I’ll just have to try reallllly, really hard for 26 letters because this is fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
just downloaded your fourth font. p.s. I love this app.
Also, can you tutor me on using the bamboo tablet? I have been so discouraged the 3-4 times I have tried it that it hasn’t actually gotten much use since Mark gave it to me as a {HUGE} surprise for Christmas.
Obviously I will fly to Boston for lessons. :) or there is google hangout…
I downloaded this app a while ago and absolutely love it!! Soo addicting… if only I could make my fonts a little prettier!
