While in Syracuse this week for my February break, my family made sure to have lunch at Bittersweet in Armory Square. This restaurant was opened by Patrizia Barbieri, an alum of my high school, good old Jamesville-Dewitt. My sister is good friends with Patrizia’s sister Luci, a pastry chef who makes the desserts for the restaurant. YUM!
Overall the food was delicious, featuring a long list of wines and the most amazing desserts. We stopped in for lunch and were able to pick from a handful of sandwiches, which are named for each of the Barbieri family members; all of which have helped make Bittersweet a reality for Patrizia.

Here are a few of my own photographs from today’s excellent lunch:
Everything was so tasty! The Belgium Delight dessert was amazing. And the Death By Chocolate Cake was incredible too (it’s said to be Patrizia’s favorite). I only wish I could have tried the whole dessert menu. With over 15 options for dessert alone, this would have been impossible, but I guess it just means I’ll have to go back next time I’m in Syracuse!
Here’s a snapshot of Patrizia and Lucia, the lovely ladies behind the unique downtown cafe.
This is such a great addition to Downtown Syracuse! Definitely visit if you are in the neighborhood. It would be just the place to have a light bite for lunch, or a rich and satisfying dessert before a night out on the town– the perfect place to bring a date, or enjoy a nice night out with friends.
