bring on the rain…

There is something about this picture that makes me feel a little bit better about all the rain. I feel like I could be happy in this room on a rainy day curled up under the covers with a good book. I would prop up lots of cozy pillows, have a mug of hot hazelnut coffee on my vintage bedside table, and doze off to sleep in the middle of a chapter.

This is love.

delicious chicken salad

I have to admit that chicken salad doesn’t lend itself to taking the most attractive pictures, but this chicken salad is so delicious I just have to share it. It’s got a sweet taste to it (it’s made with honey!) and it’s such a great recipe for spring and summer.

I whipped it up on Sunday morning on a whim. The recipe makes a good amount and I’ve been bringing it for lunch all week! Here you go… just for you:

Sweet Chicken Salad:

4 cups chicken breast, shredded
2 tbsp honey
1/4 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayoniase
1 cup sliced almonds (or walnuts)
1/2 cups grapes
(I threw in a handful of craisins just for kicks. I’m super glad I did)

It’s delicious! ENJOY!

paper straws

Aren’t these paper straws just the cutest?!

My mom found these for Haley’s baby shower last weekend and I still can’t get over how perfectly sweet they are. I will be purchasing these for any type of celebration party I throw from now until the end of time. I will probably buy some for my kitchen too, just because. They are too precious not to drink from every single time I need a sip of water.

I need to have a party soon. I love these!

Buy paper straws from The Baker’s Confections for your next celebration, too. Made in Portland, Maine!

happy birthday, bails!

I didn’t give a proper birthday post to Bailey on her actual birthday, but it’s okay because I had a good excuse– we were together!

It was so great to have old friends in town this weekend as we celebrated one of my bestest friend’s birthday. Bailey is one of those friends that will never let you down. She’s always good for a conversation, is always up for having a fun time, and is just one of those people that you feel lucky to have in your life.

We had a dElicious dinner at Gaslight in the South End, which had the perfect atmosphere for our small group. Although we made a reservation, we had to wait quite a while for our table to be ready. The place is so popular it’s VERY busy on the weekends (and with food like this, it’s easy to understand why). We hardly minded at all as we sipped our drinks at the bar and posed for some pictures with the Nikon.

The food was amazing, and we even got to try several appetizers “on the house” because we had to wait so long for a table….

Fondue with melting fontina, pork sausage, garlic and croutons

Country Pâté with coarse mustard, pork sausage and bayonne ham

Fried Artichokes with nicoise olives, onion, sweet pepper and spicy aioli

Tarbais Bean Puree with nicoise olive tapenade, romesco & flatbread

Yes, please! They were yummy and fabulous!

It was a such great night… great food in my favorite city with the most wonderful friends.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BAILS!!! xoxo
