On the night of his 30th birthday {back in December}, I took Zan out to Neptune Oyster in the North End. I’d walked by it many times, the bold lettering and rows and bunches of the yellowest lemons always standing out to me. This night we took our first steps inside, into the coziest little Oyster Bar this city ever did see. We loved that night in the North End. We put our names in {the wait is never not a long one} headed down the street for some pre-dinner drinks and hurried back when they called us just under an hour later. We sat at the bar and had a feast for a king— oysters, and johnny cakes, and hot lobster rolls for the win. We left so full and so satisfied. The flavors were rich, and decadent, and delicious.
4 months later and I’m still thinking about the magic.
Neptune Oyster
63 Salem Street
North End, Boston
{I’ve also put it back on my “To Do in Boston” list, simply so I can visit again!}
I just heard about Neptune Oyster the other day. So great to hear that you enjoyed it, I will have to head their for dinner soon!
random question – what do you use to add writing to your photos? do you have a graphics tablet of some sort? (I’m assuming it’s handwriting and not a font, so correct me if I’m wrong)
Yes, it’s my handwriting! I have a Wacom Bamboo tablet and I love it!
Here is the one I have: http://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Bamboo-Create-CTH670-Version/dp/dp/B005HGBEZ2
Okay cool! I love the way you add these little handwritten details to your photos – I think you have a great eye for enhancing them in such a way.
You have more patience than I! A year and a half after moving to Boston and I still can’t outlast the waiting list!
this looks amaaazzzzing! it reminds me of a place brian and i went to when we went to baltimore for the night – fresh seafood near water is the best. those oysters! those lobster rolls! this type of restaurant is an east coast gem that i love. i hope i get to visit it on one of my boston excursions!
never been, wanna go. even more now.
Fun fact – this place has been on my boston bucket list forever! We had plans to go there the day after my birthday this year, but one too many champagne toasts the night before prevented me ;)
You know, to this day I’m still not sure if I like oysters. My family loves them, but every time they were part of the menu I would chicken out and refuse to eat any. However, if I ever find myself in Boston I will definitely put this restaurant on my list!
Any oil needs proper disposal because it’s flammable and can cause misery to small animals that come in contact with it.
You may be having a large gathering with friends
or a simple meal with your family, either one your fire pit can be a great way to add uniqueness to your meal.
Two slices of pimento filled olives make great snake eyes and a sliver of red
pimento for a tongue.
