I’m really truly proud of myself.
That’s what I am right now. YOU GO, GLEN COCO, I keep whispering in my head.
I bought myself some gorgeous flowers and Mast Brothers to celebrate.
30 days and I’m done.
Except I’m not done, not really. I’m going to keep eating clean/Paleo as much as I can. I did it for 30 days and feel AMAZING, so why would I stop now? The plan is to keep eating the way I have been at home– all breakfast, lunch, and dinners. Yes it requires some planning and prep work, I’ve discovered, but that’s something I’m completely willing to stick to. If we plan dinner out or want to be social? My feeling will be, ENJOY IT.
Above all I do know this: Eating clean = feeling good = worth it.
I do want to add some things back into my diet in moderation. I will be eating legumes at the end of this week because Zan’s making an incredible Bison chilli {from this cookbook} that I love. Will I add cheese and sour cream to the chili like I used to? I think I’ll steer clear of that for now. I did buy my favorite cracked pepper goat cheese that I plan to add to my salads {and eat with a spoon} and also, well, CHOCOLATE. Goat cheese and chocolate. Ha! Those are the only real things I’m craving. That’s weird right?
This past weekend I saw a picture of a juicy cheese burger and I was all OOOMAAAGAAHHHHHD. Neeeeeeed. But really, I don’t think I NEED that right now. It looked good, and eventually I’ll be sure to have one, but all in good time.
In the past month I’ve slept better than I ever have, I’m feeling good in my clothes again, and found more uses for coconut oil than I ever could have dreamed up myself {so. many. uses!}. I feel SO energized. I started working out. I stopped my itchy skin!! As far as I can tell, my smell is the same {not great}, but my sinuses are definitely better in terms of sneezing/allergies {no more Zyrtec!}, so I’m still holding out hope for someday.
This month was about doing what I set out to do and giving it my all. And I’m proud of myself for that. Really darn proud.
And now, I just really want a piece of dark chocolate.
And so, sweet victory, dark chocolate it will be. :)
MAJOR FISTPUMP AND FISTBUMP NANNER! So happy for you!
:) :) :)
You are part of the reason!!!!! xoxoxoxooxoxoxo
Congrats on finishing your Whole30! I think at my healthiest I was basically cooking Whole30-style at home, but enjoying some non-W30 things while out. It felt easier to balance because W30 at home was just “the way I cooked.” Sometimes I would also enjoy wine, chocolate or a cocktail, but it kept me feeling really good overall.
Yes! I love that good feeling! And want to keep it going!
congrats!!! :)
Thanks, Stephanie! xo
So proud of you! And happy for your lifestyle change! I try to be pretty easy on myself (because duh, this is my one life and I still love good food & alcohol) but it’s amazing the things you can do without! Sour cream & cheese on chili, easy! I have to let legumes back in as well, especially as a vegetarian. I think it’s important to figure out what effects our bodies. While I know dairy is ick for me, it may not be so much for someone else. Same with beans, bread, grains, etc. Cheers to you (and chocolate & goat cheese)!
Thanks, girl! So much love to you and all the advice you gave me way back when! :)
For some reason I was saying, “You go, Glen Coco!!!” to myself in the show this morning. I hadn’t done anything spectacular (well, besides actually GET IN the shower, which is challenging with two tiny children), but… there it was.
I’ve also been nibbling on TJ’s dark chocolate and sea salt-covered almonds lately, and they are definitely another way to celebrate, if you’re looking for one. ;-)
I love this comment, Becca. And yes, I will have to try that chocolate. Sounds delicious. :)
YOU GO GLEN COCO! So happy for you.
LOVE YA GURL.
So proud of you! Please share some of your favorite clean meals. I’m always looking for new ideas :)
Good idea! I will have to round up some of my favorites in a post!
For now:
This: http://everydaypaleo.com/southwestern-frittata/
and this: http://cupcakesomg.blogspot.com/2013/03/the-most-delicious-meal-ive-ever-made.html
Have made those both twice now and think they’re awesome!
YOU ARE SUCH A BALLER. I think the best/weirdest thing about doing whole30/paleo is that while it sounds like you’re missing out on so much, you experience this enormous amount of freedom at the same time, because of how refreshed your body feels. I am so thrilled for the re-entry of chocolate and goat cheese into your life, though. Obviously.
YES. So much yes about that comment. I do feel so free. And I think I gained way more than I lost, if that makes sense. So much good!
Way to go! Congratulations! It’s so inspiring to hear about your new outlook on food and THRILLED to hear you are feeling great! Keep up the good work!
Way to go! So inspiring!!
So proud of you, friend! Sounds super challenging but OH so rewarding! Sometimes we just need a little reset! Would love to hear more about Whole 30 and what types of things you ate! We are trying to cook healthier at home, but winter just seems so HARD!
miss you
xo
Anna.
This. Is. Awesome. Kudos to you for sticking to it. I am so curious to see if this new diet helps your sense of smell and overall skin itchiness and sinus issues! Congrats on making it through 30 days!!!
That’s so great, Anna! I haven’t been following a Paleo/clean-eating diet, but I have been trying to make better decisions about my food. The truth remains, as I’ve determined, that I love carbs and always will love carbs and probably will never, ever give up carbs. What I’m focused on, though, is controlling my portions, not overeating, and getting some exercise and stretching in a few times a week. I really wanna lose three pounds… Joking. ;) At this point, I’m not concerned with weight loss. I just want to lose that bloated and heavy feeling in my stomach that’s come from bad eating habits in the past and focus on taking better care of my body. I’m so impressed that you stuck with this plan for a whole month and that it largely changed the way you see food. Good for you!
Hmm is anyone else encountering problems with the pictures on this blog
loading? I’m trying to find ouut if its a probkem on my end or if it’s thhe blog.
Any feed-back would be greatly appreciated.
congrats! i know i am a little late but i am so, so happy for you. these past few weeks i have really pushed myself at the gym more and it feels gooooooood – some days it’s tough to make the right decision but when you start to feel so good and see benefits, it’s hard to not keep going. so congrats! yay for new habits and learning your body and killing it. i do expect to drink wine the next time we’re together though (real talk).
