Getting ready for summer:

I’m getting so excited for summer, it’s practically here! Besides the rain today I’d say we’ve had a pretty great run for spring. I feel like I really got a chance to wear my favorite spring outfits and I wasn’t even pretending to be warm, I really was! This spring/summer I’m embracing my pale skin and vow to take extra good care to protect it from the elements. I have already bought 2 bottles of sunblock, next step is to start protecting my face. I do wear an spf 15 moisturizer every day, but in that hot summer weather on that sandy beach you just NEED some extra protection! I’m particularly interested in purchasing a summer hat this year. J.crew and anthropologie have some cute ones– but I’m sure I can swing by the outlet mall and find a practical one for less. We shall see in time what I end up with…
Here is what I am using for skin protection:

I love Neutrogena products and this is one that I have been a fan of for a long time. It goes on smooth and doesn’t leave a greasy feeling, plus you know you’re face is getting protection all day.

This stuff is magic. It goes on so light you don’t even know it’s on! Which means it’s the stuff for me because I HATE that icky sunblock feeling. SO sticky!
And as far as my head goes, I’ve been looking into a few options:

Whirling Plaid Sunhat from Anthropologie

Eric Javits Packable Floppy Hat from Saks

(LOVE the orange detail!)

Ribbon-Wrapped Hat from Anthropologie

(The last two are more for fashion’s sake I’ll admit– but I do love them.)

Hope I can still get my summer freckles!!!!!

The summer dress.

If you run quick to Anthropologie you will probably still be able to snag this fabulous summer dress. On SALE too. I was meant to buy this dress. It was fate how I found it. Everyday for the past week I’ve been walking by the windows of Anthro admiring not this dress, but a different one. The original dress I thought I was meant to own was hot pink with an amazingly fun ribbon around the waist. I thought I was in love. I even dreamed about how I would wear it to reunion weekend, or a wedding this summer. But as soon as I saw the dress in person I knew I had been fooled. It was cheap looking. And their was NO ribbon (it was an added accessory, a belt turned backwards). AND it cost $98. Puh-lease. I was a little ticked off about the misrepresentation between the window display and the real thing that I did a quick 180 to walk out of the store. That’s when I saw the rack. The rack filled with these funky-cute summery dresses. Orangey and pink and navy blue. They were calling my name. And so, I listened and tried one on. And it was so perfectly adorable I decided then and there that this would be my new dress. My new summer dress. I love summer and I love dresses. And I love love love this $48.00 colorful, pretty, flowery, fantastic dress. Yes, yes, YES.

Knobs Galore.

I’ve been really into taking the old knobs off my dresser drawers and replacing them with these fun ones from anthropologie. They make the dressers look SO adorable, unique, and vintage.
Here are some other pretty ones…
LOVE.

Kitchen fun.

I have been obsessed with accessorizing my kitchen lately. There are just so many adorable items to be had! And practical items too, of course. I’m especially interested in getting a dutch oven, only right now I simply don’t have the funds! Recently, while in NY, I discovered Sur la Table. Oh heavens. I think I could spend the night in that store. A nice little sleepover with all the cookware.
As far as accessories go, I’ve been adding small touches here and there with items from anthropologie. I’ve also found some really cute things at Marshalls/Home Goods. What a great store that Marshalls is.

For Christmas Meg wanted to give me this:

Only anthropologie messed up the order and this came instead:

It’s fun, except for I already have this:

You like, right? Me too.

So I returned the mix-up butterdish and got myself the cutest little measuring cups I ever did see:

Did you follow me through all that? Oh good. I hoped you would. And do you like the measuring cups?? I had a feeling you might like those too. If you come visit me, I’ll make you a delicious dinner and maybe use the measuring cups. OR maybe we could bake cookies and then we would definitely use the measuring cups. Just let me know when you’re coming. I’ll be ready.
