The Friday Night Knitting Club

I stayed up late last night to finish this book and I was in tears by the end! It’s about a strong woman named Georgia who is raising her teenage daughter alone in New York. She owns her own business- a knitting shop where the real magic of the book begins. The Friday Night Knitting club is formed with a few random acquaintances (all knitters or at least want-to be’s) meeting to knit, eat, and enjoy each other’s company every Friday night. Throughout the book you get to know each of the characters and their struggles and triumphs. By the end you get a glimpse into each of their lives and learn the value of love, friendship, and appreciating who you are.

I liked this book, especially the main character Georgia. An emotional ending, but one where when I closed the book I had a warm feeling inside. That’s what this book is like, a warm cozy blanket keeping you satisfied. I don’t knit, but after reading this book I sure wish I did. Overall a good read, one I will definitely recommend to my book club.

The Regal Beagle

Last Tuesday my east coast booger Erin and I went out for a yummy little dinner at a new restaurant in Coolidge Corner: The Regal Beagle. It was so cute and cozy inside and the menu is fun and delicious. The walls are lined with a red decorative wallpaper which makes you feel as if your in an old saloon. They pass out postcards with the picture of dogs playing poker (above) and it’s the perfect way to describe the atmosphere of the restaurant.
Here’s a look at the menu:
Yummy.

Yummier.

Yummiest.

It was so fun to try a new place and catch up with my pretty Aaron. She’s such a special friend. I love her so.

red velvet goodness.

Today Wyatt and I made Barefoot Contessa’s red velvet cupcake mix. Goodness gracious… Mmm! This is the second time we’ve made these cupcakes and they are really good. Wyatt has a HUGE sweet tooth just like me, so we make a pretty good pair. Someday I might try making these homemade, but for now the mix is just fine (especially when baking with a 3-year old). You can get the boxed cupcake mix online at Ina Garten’s website or through Stonewall Kitchen. The cupcakes are super moist and delicious and the cream cheese frosting is incredible. I guess with a stick and a half of butter anything will taste amazing. (!!)
Mmmm!

BEAUTY.

I’ve been poking around online and in different stores for the perfect shoe for Bailey’s wedding. She gave us the option to pick our own shoes (with a few limitations and guidelines), which in one way is really awesome, but in another way it means I have to make a decision on my own!
Today, I found them. I found them and I love them.

Peeptoe Bow Pump from Ann Taylor

I think I really struck gold here, people. Aren’t they a beauty? They will just go so nicely with my navy Sophia dress. And I will absolutely wear them again. And again. And again. Amen.
