weekend.

fall-9

WEEKEND!

I have been battling a cold all week and I think I may be finally ready to kick it. All I need now is a little rest and a lot of nothing.

Here are some links I plan to savor over the next two days:

The Parcel Post Company, started by Nicole.

This post by Grace, shared by Elizabeth.

My newest favorite blogs are Elephantine, Che and Fidel, and Saipua. The loveliest, and all recommended to me by Rachael.

Other favorites I’ve been waiting to catch up on:
The Noisy Plume // Dera Frances // A Well Traveled Woman

{the photography on these blogs are some of my greatest inspiration.}

Rachael also emailed me about Artifact Uprising, which is a feed I’ve followed on instagram for awhile now {GREAT PHOTOS}, and she led me to all the good {oh so good} photo products in their shop. Rachael is so in the know about these kinds of things, if you haven’t picked up on that already. : ) Can’t wait to dive in this weekend and purchase some holiday presents.

Do you use Roadtrippers? I just stumbled upon it this week, on Pinterest actually, and I’m curious. I’m going to try it out this weekend, even if only from my couch.

Things I’m loving + wanting from Etsy lately:
Linen Bunting // Chevron Necklace // Camera Bag // Mini Calendar // Pink + Grey Garland

Have any worthy links to share with me? Shops you like or blogs you love?

I hope your weekend is a cozy one— happy, happy FALL. ♥

I feel like I’ve sort of got my life together lately. In a more-together-than-two-weeks-ago kind of way. I’ve been feeling good vibes at school. I’m mastering the meetings and feeling settled into my routine. Second grade is so UP and DOING! Like, let’s do this everybody! Math and Reading and Science and Social Studies! Yes, let’s DO THIS! {Also, WE GOT THIS!} At home I’m keeping up with the laundry and dishes. Picking up the house more often, which inevitably keeps me in a better mood. AND I already have the coffee pot all set and ready to go for tomorrow morning, so there’s that, too. It might seem like such a little thing, but to me it is HUGE.

Outfit? Picked out.

Lunch? Practically packed.

Just all around more on top things and feeling pretty solid about it. Not perfect, but who is?

Are you up to anything special this weekend? I’m just going to be enjoying fall in Boston. FINALLY. DREAM! The weather has been just my cup of tea. Remember the end of the fall last year? Snowy disaster. This sort of October is much more my style. This is the kind of fall I could look forward to. But of course, this IS new England so I better not hold my breath. Who knows what’ll happen over the next few weeks. {I dread.}

I think on Saturday I’m going to check out this place, most recently toured by Rachael.

And maybe another round of esplanade fun via my two wheeler. Could be awesome.

Weekend, weekend, weekend! I have been waiting for you!

on summer nights with blogger friends.

A few weeks ago Rachael, Natalie, Bridget and I went out on the town for some good old fashioned late night picnic-ing on the Rose Kennedy Greenway over by the North End. We threw around a few emails with a few ideas, picked a date that worked for everyone, and then a plan was born. And what a good one it was. We got a some Lobster Rolls from Pauli’s (they were HUGE. and amazing.), Rachael brought paper cups, Bridget brought a bottle of wine, and we parked ourselves right by the fountains for a delicious dinner for 4 overlooking the city. We even had some music entertainment for awhile— a street player who was actually pretty good. It was really quite the lovely setting.

Have you ever had a picnic on a summer night before? If not, then you must. We met just as the sun was setting and the night time air was cool, but not cold. Also, I think we picked a day early enough in the season that the bugs weren’t around yet (or maybe that’s a city thing?). Either way, it was the ideal setting for lobster roll eating and easy conversation.

I love these blogger friends of mine. Besides being around for fun adventures, they are also just downright wonderful people. Their company makes the night go by so fast (it’s always so late when we part!) and I always leave with such a happy heart.

Some of our other adventures here and here.

Oh! And the first time we met here.

ten things that are making me happy.

So a lot of my internet lovers {aka blog friends} have been seriously BUSY in the blogging department doing this “Blog Every Day in May” gig. My thoughts on this are simple: I FREAKING LOVE IT. My only regret is that I am not partaking in the action. I can’t decide if I would soar to new blogging heights or be boggled down by the pressure of it all. I guess we will never really know how I would fare with the challenge, but what I do know is that many many people out there in this blogging abiss are rocking it.

It is here and now that I will borrow this idea to write my own happy list… just because!

//

1. Reading intermediate fiction, which is basically teacher talk for KID NOVELS.

Books I’ve read and loved lately:

Stargirl

The One and Only Ivan

The Tiger Rising

I also read Tuck Everlasting, and liked it but didn’t LOOOVE it.

Kid novels are almost always terrific… life changing, even. There is so much real and true in these books I hope you all put them on your to-read list someday.

2.THIS MAXI SKIRT {in Navy and B+W Striped} with THIS DENIM JACKET.

Do you guys think wearing those to work 3-4 times a week is socially acceptable? And on weekends, too? Because they are SO soft and cozy and I just can’t even help myself.

And the denim jacket? Thanks to Madeline I bought one that was affordable and adorable {thanks, lady!}.

3. Sarah’s twitter feed. She just makes me smile and I want to be her friend.

4. Little City Radio. So good!

I’d found the link through one of Kate’s posts, raved about it to Bridget, who in turn told me it’s actually Kate and a friend who put it together. Love that. Delicious music, I tell ya. Good stuff.

5. A Beautiful Mess’ new iphone app. It’s just fun, guys. REALLY FUN.

6. Spring in Boston. Has it always been this glorious? Because this year is especially so.

7. This month’s Boston Magazine cover. And the stories that are inside. Heart-wrenching accounts from runners of the 117th Boston Marathon. Read my friend Alex’s story here. And buy a print of the cover here. It’s sad, but also beautiful, and what’s making me happy is how Boston has bounced back to be an even stronger version of the place we all adore.

8. This blog. And this one. And this one and this one, too.

9. Watching my struggling first graders become readers. Every year I’ve had those kids– those few that just aren’t getting it. I’ve worked really hard with this group this year {alway do!} and I’m seeing progress that makes me want to cheer. And actually, the other day, I did. I cheered and said “YEAH, YOU! You little readers, YOU!” and gave them all high fives and I could see it in their faces that they were proud. And I was proud, too.

10. 26 more days til summer. Ya hear??! <—— THAT is the best of the best of all the things that are making me happy. Yeeeah!

What’s the best of the best of all the things for you?
